I made Checkmist: chess with fog of war, random islands and a tech tree. Free in your browser, looking for feedback
Playable Link: https://mudralabs.itch.io/checkmist Hi all! I'm the solo developer of Checkmist, a chess-like strategy game where you can only see what your pieces can see. It's free, needs no account, and works in the browser on desktop and phones. What's different from chess: - Fog of war: the island is covered in mist, and forests hide pieces, so ambushes are a thing - Orders: you move several pieces per turn and can buy more orders with Gold - Economy and tech: hold Mines, recruit pieces, research Rooks, Scouts and a Queen - Formations: line up 3 Pawns into a Phalanx and march them together for one order - No check: you win by actually capturing the enemy King - A new random map every game There's a 10-minute interactive tutorial, a bot with Easy/Normal/Hard, and online 1v1 with room codes. It's an early version, so I'd love to hear: Was the tutorial clear? Where did you get confused? Did you beat the Easy bot? Was it too easy or too hard? Anything that felt broken or unfair? Note: the online server is on a free plan, so the first online game after a quiet spell can take up to a minute to connect. The tutorial and bot games are instant. submitted by /u/ArtisticStomach2700 to r/playmygame [link] [comments]
