About this game
Paroxysm is a free, early-alpha persistent text-based multiplayer RPG (MUD) with a browser client; it can also be reached with a standard MUD client. The setting is a modern supernatural dystopia: after the gates to Hell closed, humanity lives under the Cortex, and play is built around player-led scenes, player-run societies and lasting consequences. When few players are online, LLM-driven NPCs (described as AI Champions) play alongside humans. The team says AI tools were used in building the website and the game, and labels the game adults only (18+).
