# The Human Box

A free browser god game where you watch over tribes that invent their own languages and religions and advance through 45 eras, with nothing scripted.

## Description

You play as the god of a small world of tribes. The tribes hunt, farm, fall in love, wage war and pray to you; you may answer them or drop a meteor on them. Nothing is scripted: each tribe develops its own language and religion as it goes, and long-surviving tribes move through 45 eras from the stone age to computers. A chronicle records the world's history from what actually happened, and family trees let you follow a single person's whole life. The simulation is rule-based, runs locally in the browser and saves on your device; no signup is needed. Free to play, with desktop builds for Windows, Mac and Linux also available on GitHub.

## Original post

I made a free god game in the browser where tribes invent their own languages and religions, and nothing is scripted

Game Title: The Human Box Playable Link: https://thehumanbox.com Platform: Web browser (best on desktop). There are also desktop builds for Windows, Mac and Linux on GitHub. Description: You're the god of a small world full of tribes. They hunt, farm, fall in love, go to war, and pray to you when things go wrong. You can answer them, or drop a meteor on them. Up to you. None of it is scripted. Each tribe makes up its own language and religion as it goes, and if they survive long enough they move through 45 eras, from the stone age all the way to computers. There's a chronicle that writes the world's history from whatever actually happened, plus family trees, so you can follow one person's whole life. It's all rule-based. No AI models, no server. The sim runs locally in your browser and saves on your device. No signup. Free to Play Status: - [x] Free to play Involvement: I'm the solo dev. I built the sim engine (Rust compiled to WASM), the UI and the desktop app. Stuff I'd really like feedback on: - is it obvious what to do in the first minute? - the god-powers toolbar. I'm thinking about restructuring it, so tell me if anything there confused you - did your world do anything weird or funny? I want to hear about it The code's on GitHub if you're curious: https://github.com/1homsi/thehumanbox submitted by /u/Actual_South_2484 to r/playmygame [link] [comments]
