# Tribes of Rhombica

A free browser-based 4X turn-based strategy game played on a map of pentagon and rhombus tiles instead of hexes, with 10 tribes, AI opponents that ally and betray, online multiplayer, a weekly challenge and replays. Built in Unity by a student, with Claude assisting on most of the code.

## Description

Tribes of Rhombica is a free-to-play browser 4X turn-based strategy game, built in Unity by a student with Claude as a coding partner. The world is made of pentagon and rhombus tiles rather than the usual hexes. It features 10 tribes, each with a unique hero such as the Frost Giant, Khan and Sea Captain; AI-controlled tribes that make peace, betray the player and fight each other; online multiplayer; a weekly challenge; and replays. Play at rhombica.com/play.

## Original post

I’m a student and I built Tribes of Rhombica, a turn-based strategy game on a pentagon & rhombus map, with AI as my coding partner

Hi everyone! I’ve been building Tribes of Rhombica , a Polytopia-inspired 4X strategy game, in Unity, and it’s free to play in the browser: rhombica.com/play What’s in it: A world made of pentagon and rhombus tiles instead of hexes 10 tribes, each with its own unique hero (Frost Giant, Khan, Sea Captain…) AI tribes that make peace, betray you and fight each other Online multiplayer, a weekly challenge and replays How AI helped: I designed the game and made the decisions; Claude did most of the coding with me. It wrote the C# scripts, the enemy AI and the code-built low-poly unit models. It also ran simulated AI-vs-AI games to find bugs and balance problems. My workflow was: describe a feature, test it in-game, report what felt wrong, repeat. Happy to answer questions about the workflow or the game. Feedback very welcome! submitted by /u/Rhombica_Devs to r/aigamedev [link] [comments]
