# RESIDUE / Undeveloped

Two browser games built entirely from Gaussian splats of a scanned abandoned sanatorium: RESIDUE is a first-person horror game where the player searches the building at night with a wind-up lamp while something hunts in the dark, and Undeveloped is a detective game about piecing together what happened to a missing photographer.

## Description

Both games are rendered without meshes: the sanatorium scan is voxelized into a solid/empty grid for collision, and props such as the ghost, lightbulb and footsteps are made from splats and shaders. RESIDUE is a Slenderman-like horror game played at night with a wind-up lamp, developing old photographic plates as a threat stalks the building. Undeveloped is a detective game in which the player reconstructs the fate of a missing photographer. The scene is based on "URBEX: Sanatorium Inside – Part01" by Christoph Schindelar, licensed CC BY-NC 4.0. Free to play in the browser.

## Original post

I built two browser games made entirely of splats!

For a while I've wanted to build a Slenderman-like game on Gaussian splats, unfortunately I never quite got around to it as I've had more pressing things to do. With the recent virality of Opus 5.5's modding and coding capabilities I thought I might as well see if it can have a crack at it instead (with guidance over 3 days). We built 2 games over a single real splat scan of an abandoned sanatorium. RESIDUE is a horror game: You search the building at night with a wind-up lamp, developing old photographic plates while something hunts you in the dark. Undeveloped is a detective game where you must piece together what happened to a missing photographer. There are zero meshes in these games, for collision the scan was voxelized into a solid/empty grid, and all props like the ghost, lightbulb, footsteps, etc. are made using splats and shaders. Would love feedback, especially about performance on different machines. Thanks. submitted by /u/DisciplinedPenguin to r/GaussianSplatting [link] [comments]
