# Hearthsea

A free Catan-style settle-and-trade game on a 3D hex island board, playable in the browser on phone, tablet or desktop, with 3 modes, 46 maps, trading bots, online rooms, clans and a weekly tournament.

## Description

Hearthsea is a free browser game by a solo developer. Players settle and trade on a 3D hex island board, in the same family as Catan (the developer states it is not affiliated with Catan GmbH). It is playable in the browser on phone, tablet or desktop and offers 3 modes, 46 maps, bots that make and answer trade offers, online rooms with friends, clans and a weekly tournament. The developer says much of the code was written with Claude Code and the painted art (characters, cards, trophy statuettes) was generated with GPT Image from references of the game's own art.

## Original post

Hearthsea: a free Catan-style island game on a 3D board, built with Claude Code and GPT Image. Live now with 1,500+ players

Play: hearthsea.com (free, in your browser, on phone, tablet or desktop) Hearthsea is a settle-and-trade game on a hex island, in the same family as Catan (not affiliated with Catan GmbH). It's live now with 1,500+ players: 3 modes, 46 maps, bots that make and answer trade offers, online rooms with friends, clans and a weekly tournament. How AI was used: I'm the solo developer. I designed the game and directed the work; much of the code was written with Claude Code, and the painted art (characters, cards, trophy statuettes) comes from GPT Image, generated from references of the game's own art so the style stays consistent.
