# Pitch Bugs

A 3D browser cricket game where you play as an insect batter: time one-button swings, hit fours and sixes, run singles, and survive an innings against fielding beetles.

## Description

Pitch Bugs is a small 3D cricket game that runs in the browser. The player controls a bug with a bat and swings with a click, tap, Space or Enter, timing the shot against the bounce of the ball. Clean hits along the ground score four, hits on the full score six, and softer shots let the batter run one, two or occasionally three runs while the fielding insects chase and cut off the ball; catches only count on the full. Early overs are easier, with bowling pace and fielding tightening as the innings goes on. The match is presented with a stadium of insects, two batting bugs at the creases and a camera that moves in on key moments. Other controls are P or Esc to pause and M to mute. There are no accounts and no backend — it is a static site built with Three.js, TypeScript and Vite, published under the MIT license, with original art and procedural audio, and the author describes it as a vibe-coded project made with Grok Build.

You’re a little bug with a bat. One button. Big vibes. - **Time the bounce** — click, tap, or hit Space / Enter to swing - **Smash boundaries** — six on the full, four after the bounce - **Run the gaps** — soft shots turn into 1s and 2s (a rare 3 if the fielders nap) - **Watch the scramble** — fielders chase, cut off runs, and only catch on the full - **Survive the innings** — early overs are friendlier; pace and fielding heat up later Two batting bugs at the creases, a whole stadium of insects, and a camera that leans into the big moments. No accounts, no backend — just you vs the beetles. Built as a **vibe-coded** project with [Grok Build](https://grok.x.ai/) — original art, procedural audio, and a tiny static site you can host anywhere. ## Controls | Action | Input | |--------|--------| | Swing | Click, tap, Space, or Enter | | Pause | P or Esc | | Mute | M | ## Play locally ```bash npm install npm run dev ``` Open the URL Vite prints (usually `http://localhost:5173`). ## Build ```bash npm run build ``` Output lands in `dist/`. Ready for GitHub Pages (this repo deploys on every push to `main` via Actions). ## License See [LICENSE](./LICENSE).
